EB-1A · Extraordinary ability · Self-petition

The case is one project. Do you have it?

EB-1A is the green card category you file for yourself: no employer, no labor certification, and for India and China a far shorter line than EB-2. The petitions approved here share a pattern: one flagship project the petitioner was responsible for, that the company relied on, and that people outside the company relied on. Nine questions, about three minutes, an honest read.

How the read works

Three questions about one project

Silmi Law builds EB-1A petitions around qualitative, documented evidence, with a focus on the plain language of the statute and the regulatory requirements. A petition that lists ten criteria and proves none of them deeply is a checklist. A petition built on one project, proven in three steps, is a case. Your answers are read against those three steps.

  1. I

    Responsibility

It was yours. You built it or the decision was yours to make, and the people who watched it happen will say so.

"I was the one responsible for the swaps valuation engine."

  2. II

    Significance to the organization

The company relied on it, in numbers a stranger can understand: volume, dollars, users, headcount.

"Fifty thousand swaps and fifteen thousand caps were priced through it."

  3. III

    Significance to the field

People outside the company relied on it: regulators, clearing houses, counterparties, clients, or a public record of the work.

"LCH, the regulator, and our counterparties settled against those numbers."

The assessment

Question 1 of 9

This is a screening estimate, not legal advice. The read is generated from your answers using a general pattern observed in approved petitions. It does not evaluate your eligibility for any immigration benefit, does not predict the outcome of any petition, and does not create an attorney-client relationship with Silmi Law or any attorney. Only a consultation with an attorney who has reviewed your record can assess your case.

About the pattern. Silmi Law builds EB-1A petitions around qualitative, documented evidence, with a focus on the plain language of the statute and the regulatory requirements. The flagship project is proven in three steps: responsibility, significance to the organization, and significance to the field. The six factors scored here are the ones the firm's intake team screens for; they are a starting point for a conversation, not a rule of law.
